Post 2010 COG EVENTS
This posting will be updated as 2010 COG (and other related events!) are planned and/or publicized.

(The most recent posts in this forum should be checked for updates and information; this "easy to get to" annoucement posting will be updated as necessary!)

Interested in hosting an event? Let everyone know!

We try to choose venues across the COG territory, in order to "spread the mileage" for everyone.

Events should be planned well in advance!

This not only gives everyone the chance to "plan for the event" - it also gives everyone a bit of extra time in case circumstances arise that require a change or a backup-host!

Everyone is urged to post their intentions to host an event in this forum prior to a cache listing being created/published on http://www.geocaching.com !

If you have never hosted an event before - don't worry! There are plenty of folks who can help out with suggestions for/against (!) venues and locations!

All in all - the COG monthly "Pub Nights" are a great social gathering - and we'd love to make sure this tradition continues during 2010 and beyond!

January 2010 - Thanks to Finger's Crossed - January 30th @ 5pm in Port McNicoll (At Marinas).
February 2010 - At the Belvedere in Pefferlaw on Feb 17th thanks to H.F.Reign!
March 2010 - Wednesday March 17th 2010 - Stubby McDrunkersons St Paddys Event. (Listing being made on behalf of Stubby by Fingers Crossed, it is assumed)
April 2010 - April 24th - DR MOO hosting at STEELERS RESTAURANT & PUB 23 Queen Street West in Elmvale.
May 2010 - At Marina's in Port McNicoll for COG's 10th thanks to Kini_Ont!
June 2010 - COG SPRING FLING 6

July 2010 - MyrtleMoose invites folks out to Owen Sound to COG's "[color=#FF0000]Saturday in the Park..."
... on July 10th! (GC29PZ5)
July 2010 - Fingers Crossed are holding 3rd Annual COG Christmas Eve in July ... in Midland on July 24th! (GC2A7AD)
July 2010 - If you happen to be passing by Bermuda... you can thank Davetec/Davetecsgirl/FortS for "The Travelling COG-Bermuda....Returns!" on July 29th in Bermuda! (GC28N8H)

August 2010 - August 21st - COG's End of Summer Event # 2 thanks to The 5 Warriors in Waubaushene! AMAZING EVENT LAST YEAR!!! (GC2ADWM)

September 2010 - TBD
October 2010 - TBD
November 2010 - TBD
December 2010 - TBD

Post Re: 2010 COG EVENTS
I got a rather irate message from a mouthy little irishmen, telling me (not asking) that he wanted an event in his honour.
So, before I call the little sod back, I thought I'd see what you folks thought?

Wednesday March 17th 2010 - Stubby McDrunkersons St Paddys Event.

Location TBD.

I would like to give a suggestion for a COG Event.

How about an event for the kids at the Chuch "E" Cheese in Newmarket.

"Calling all young and young at heart..........

COG is having thier first event geared to the tag along kid's who sit around with all the adults at the Pub Nights. At this event, geo-kids can play games while the adults sit in the sidelines talking about all the adult stuff that we usuallly do...."

We could do it one of two ways;

Book it as an Organizational Party where the resturant takes booking for parties to host your sports team, daycare, youth group, scout or any other kids' organization. For $ 8.99 per person, you get 2 Slices of one-topping pizza per person, Table Reserved for 90 Minutes, Unlimited soft drinks per person and 16 Game Tokens per person. Paid to the host.

Or

Fellow geo-cachers can download coupons from everyday coupons on the Chuch E Cheese site or sign up for monthly e-mail's with Chuck E Club and receive special coupons for four.
http://www.chuckecheese.com/coupons/register.php and for them get what ever they want and buy their own tokens.

They can also get reward certificates for the kids to earn free tokens
http://www.chuckecheese.com/promotions/rewards-calendars.php

What does everyone think *:?

Personally I'd prefer the second. It provides folks with more choice, and those who don't want pizza get more choice. Quite a few people probably won't want tokens.
That said, can 20 people take option 1 and 20 people take option 2?

hate to be "THAT GUY" but option 2 violates groundspeaks non-commercial guidelines. You can't ask people to sign up for things.

Does option 1 allow us to pay on the spot, or do we have to do it beforehand?

You'ld know all about being "THAT GUY"

Whether posted or not, I guess I meant that some folks may not want to be locked into a single choice. So, technically, option 1 or nothing :)

ANYONE WISH TO HOST A JANUARY COG EVENT?!

Event would need to be published 14 days in advance... !

If not, we'll go to "Plan B".

Not sure I will have time to arrange something ontime when I get back. Is there an Outback in COG territory that will take a group reservation the size we need?

OK, since we pretty much got down to the wire, and not a lot of folks ran for the position :) we thought we'd like to see a January event since we haven't run into anybody since November.

An event has been submitted for January 30th @ 5pm in Port McNicoll (At Marinas).

May !

CITO is not really an event. DRMOO may want to host another pancake breakfast in April. They do not participate in this forum so will have to be contacted by email.

May can be a preFling event if someone can be convinced to host that.

I'd love to do the May Event, there is a posible Multi-event plan celebrating 10 years of Geocaching - May 1st or 2nd or both?

Any suggestions?

There was an event in December - A COG Fork and Plate Affair, followed by Movies, on December 4th, hosted by Xtruckers, Juicepig and myself. All right, it was a week after the November event, but they were two separate months.
